You’ve probably met some exceptionally creative people in your life. Remember that girl in your neighborhood that was always tinkering in her garage? Or the classmate that would spend his days creating masterpieces of art on the cover of his textbook? Or the engineer who is always trying to improve the latest tech devices? Maybe you know someone that believes coming up with an idea is good, and actually implementing that idea is better. From the part-time tinkerers to the full-time creators, these people are out there, always working to make something new and improve the world around them. And last weekend, they were all in one place: Maker Faire Bay Area! We were lucky enough to be able to join in on the fun. We met a lot of interesting makers, and we got to see some amazing (and sometimes ridiculous… in a good way) projects. We wanted to share some of our photos from the weekend. But first…
What is Maker Faire?
Maker Faire is the greatest show (and tell) on Earth! It is an event created by the publishers of Make: magazine that brings together “tech enthusiasts, crafters, educators, tinkerers, hobbyists, engineers, science clubs, authors, artists, students, and commercial exhibitors” to “show what they have made and to share what they have learned.” These do-it-yourselfers all come together to celebrate creativity, to show off their work, and most importantly, to learn from one another. Maker Faire is continuing to grow in popularity, with events all over the world!
We have attended a few of these Maker Faire events, and each time we’ve gotten valuable feedback (and encouragement!). So, from your fellow makers, thank you Maker Faire community for being so awesome!
